I just saw Amelie last weekend and I have to say that was one fantastic movie. I absolutely loved it and I usually hate subtitled movies. I really liked how non-hollywood the film was and it was truely funny without being crude. Definitely a great date flick!I place this in my list of top three favorite movies in the last two years along with High Fidelity and Memento. Some will argue against High Fidelity but I love it for my own reasons.

Follow Ups:
Brilliant & very stylish filmwork along with nicely portrayed and suitably quirky characters. The film had a grounded yet surreal flow that adopted an outlook on life that seemed to glorify and revel in an expanded perception of the things that make 'life' what it is and the world turn round. All of this wrapped up in a whimsical 'romantic comedy' no less! I was MUCH more impressed than I figured I would be before walking into the flick. For some reason, it really resonated with my own psyche and seemed to do much more than my feeble words could convey. I would simply have to say that I feel sorry for anyone that is not uplifted by this movie (at least a little bit).

My favorite film of 2001 and the perfect date movie. It holds up well under repeated viewings, unlike my dates.
I thought it was going to be at this year Oscars.
