Just wondering why hollyweird hasn't done a remake of deathrace 2000?
Or at least think about a deathrace 2020... And what about rollerblade? -bolt-
Follow Ups:
I'm sure that Roger Corman is flattered...and hopefully alot richer. This is something even HE wouldn't do ! Amazing !
I can wait for this one.....just like I waited for "Charley's Angels", "Shaft", "Oceans 11", "Dr. Doolittle, "The Nutty Professor", "Planet of the Apes", etc..Apparently Hollywood is so bereft of intelligence and originality that they have to depend on recycling Tv shows ? Guess so...and these new versions are so weak, and not even close to the mark. Imagine spending all of that money on junk like this. At least Eddie Murphy's films show some respect for the original concept and are actually entertaining.
Now "Rollerball"...why ?
I agree -Rollerball is an interesting period piece- but not worth the effort of a remake unless the producers are convinced they can turn a profit with this kind of film.
And your point about Hollywood is well taken- when they use TV shows as the basis for their "new" films- it's time to spend your cash on music instead.
Other than to put an...ahem, "Urban" spin on the story, and market it to a new audience, totally unaware or caring of the James Caan version, seems a little silly....but then it doesn't cost that much, I'm sure! Here are the reasons for the new release....Drug Content, Explicit Language, Sexual Situations, Violence.
Hardly a match for the original's...Explicit Language, Adult Situations, Violence, Not For Children....huh ?
Frankly, I'm interested now in getting the budget DVD of the original film...I guess It's starting to work, even on me !
I'm wondering how James Caan and Norman Jewison feels about this ?
