decalogue was a moving series of 10 short films (1 hour) that followed the themes of the 10 commandments in a contemporary setting. it was originally made for polish television (lucky bums) and as far as i know has only been screened twice in the u.s. - once around 3 years ago at the denver film fest where i saw them all. it is my favorite work by kieslowski (even ahead of the trilogy) and hoped it had been released since.
is berlin alexanderplatz also by kieslowski? have not heard of it unless that is the one i saw mentioned in the film of kiesloski getting interviewed which i also highly recommend - i believe it is called ''so so''. was it the trilogy of train station scenarios of a young man chasing a departing train? can that be obtained through rental companies?
Thanks for the decalogue info. "Berlin Alexanderplatz" was a LONG (over 15 hrs?) German TV movie/miniseries directed by Fassbinder. I saw most of it on public TV in L.A., caught some of it in an art house theater over a few weekends. It is available on VHS.
