Ah, you just gotta love the hype, doncha? Ebert says he can't wait to see Linklater's latest for the fourth time! Yikes. Once was more than enough for me, thankyouverymuch. Ok. The animation is very fine. But three minutes of it is about all that's necessary: good MTV tricks needn't go on for an hour and a half, eh?This is the director that made Slacker a ways back. Well, this is it again, dressed up in fancy animation. Lots of off the wall discussion, a Dinner with Andre for the younger set. The problem is, a movie like this rises and falls with the quality of the discourse. And that's it, folks. This is several degrees below what grad students in coffee bars discuss everyday. Read the Plato dialogue about the guy in the cave who can't decide if reality is the imaging on the wall or what's casting it and you've pretty much got this movie. Pseudo intellectuality dumbed down even further for the masses. Heavy, man.
If it's a choice between Hollywood attempting to pose as intellect or just entertain me (Armaggedon)...give me chair shaking blasts anyday! Jayme
