It's interesting that these two releases come on the heels of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences coming up with a separate category for animated features....God, what a lack of original material !!!!!
Follow Ups:
I rented this yesterday for my 4 year old and watched it with her. It seems to be three episodes of a TV series strung together with new connecting sequences. The animation isn't actually awful like, say, any Hanna - Barberra series, but its not going to make anyone forget the original film either. My daughter liked it though. The really depressing bit was that the video had a trailer for 101 Dalmations 2 due this summer on video. I always loved the original 101 Dalmations and thought it was one of the wittiest Disney films with lovely animation and backgrounds. I guess Disney's just going to recycle every thing they own. Maybe they're trying to re-establish copyrights in older properties in case the Supreme Court strikes down the 75 year copyrights Congress gave them a few years ago. I expect Steamboat Willie 2 soon.
Shame on Disney for this blatant, and tasteless, money grab!!
And the Oscar goes to...."Fritz the Cat"!Ain't gonna happen.
It's sad to see this slow death of the great Walt Disney animation tradition. Rather than expand and reach for new ideas, they've slipped into easy cheap crap for the home video market. Money in the bank, but no staying power. Who will want to watch 'Peter Pan 2' 10, or even 5 years from now?!
Pixar and Dreamworks are the new feature animation kings.
Of course, Disney animation was all but dead by the early 80's. I'm hoping for another comeback.

With great animators dying like Chuck Jones, it doesn't matter...all a studio needs is a frame of film animator's work and the legal rights all in order, and just clone the original!

We can only hope that Mutual of Omaham's Wild Kingdom will be before the new Disney. But Disney took a horrid leap for the worst, and has decided to invite licentiousnesses into the meal. Walt should be as Mad as Kernal Sanders.... up in Heaven.
I'm sure Walt would be more than happy to troll the best of his treasures...it's got to be the lowest production costs for ANY Disney project ever !

I think the Disney think tank has gone dry. We are having somewhat of a drought here in California.Steve
