  I've been a fan of British cop shows, and Brit TV in general, for more years than I care to remember. Thaw's Inspector Morse was one of the best of a good group. He will be missed.

    Thanks for the link to the BBC article; Thaw was just brilliant at playing a hard bitten fatalistic role, I'm surprised the movie industry didn't take note and pick him up.
    Crying shame, a great character actor. My favorite Thaw line; (from the Sweeney); their Capri swerving out of the way during a car chase:
    "Give 'em a Japanese car and they think they're kamikaze pilots..."
