I read an article in the paper today saying that they apparently jettisoned most of the class warfare stuff and have made this into a love story with a lot of neat-o digital effects. Great, sounds like the PEARL HARBOR approach. It's being directed by H.G. Wells' great grandson, Simon Wells.

The reviewer in the Milwaukee paper today completely trashed this film and gave it one star. I won't go into the details for the benefit of those of you who are hell bent on seeing it.

  Add Ebert to that list, too. And I had such high hopes for it. What's next, a remake of "War of the Worlds"? Let's hope "Resident Evil" delivers the goods.

Who watches this crap "they" are producing they are producing these days ? What are the actual demographics here ?
Granted that most of the new audience doesn't know it's a remake, it doesn't take that much of an effort to rent a copy.
