It was OK. I thought it badly cut, however -- at least towards the opening. Or maybe the director didn't shoot enough coverage...For instance, what led the boy to go 'way into the forest to scatter candy? *How'd he know*?
And at first the dog was forcibly excluded from the room, then we find him suddenly entering freely.
And what about having that bright light on in the backyard shed? Who threw the switch those several times? And why? Anyway, wasn't E.T. supposedly allergic to light?
And... and... and...
But it *was* fun when the bicycles took off!

Guess you should see E.T. again. Remember the "racoons" at the beginning? He thought there were 'coons out in the yard and was trying to bait them with the candy. There are some continuity errors and a few other illogical boo-boos in the film. They are minor compared to those in many other films. There is a book out all about famous film flubs (that's the title, btw) that is a very funny and interesting read. I highly recommend it to any-and-all film buffs.
While E.T. is pretty cool, ahead of its time in a way, A.I. is cooler -- more advanced technically & idea wise - just saw directors cut DVD widescreen version of A.I. last night...
