"Play Misty For Me" is a very fine film that Eastwood need not apologise for. He's fine. The film is a good thriller. Jessica Walter gives an Oscar worthy performance. I find this movie, which is similar in general plot, but not specifics, to "Fatal Attraction", superior to "FA." I wish Eastwood had made more quality films of this type."In Harm's Way" is one of my favorite films. It has one of John Wayne's most understated and winning performances. Wayne should have gotten the Oscar nod for this film but didn't, of course. It also has a winning performance by Patricia Neal. I like the movie a great deal in that it has characters you can care about - that aren't cartoon like the characters in "Pearl Harbor." The only real weaknesses are the poor Naval battle special effects - the ships look like models - and the shortchanging of the sub-plot involving Paula Prentiss. I guess this was because the movie was already three hours long and Preminger had to do some cutting. I would like to see a director's cut, if OP ever made one.
