Kolya sounds interesting enough, so I ordered one from Amazon. Are you sure you don't mean Il Postino (the Postman)? That was an OK film, I thought, good, nothing major.
Follow Ups:
Where do you live?!
It was THE foreign film about 5 or 6 years ago, nominated, won, etc.
Please don't sue me. I am not too well plugged into popular culture. By the time I puked all over John Malkovich everyone has already forgotten about it.Here in Delaware we cut grass and spread mulch. Sometimes we get to see a film or two.
I don't even know who won Oscars this year. Honest.

You'll like Kolya. It has that delicate reality you seem to enjoy.
Black Robe was solemnly awesome! Brilliant film!
You may, but I dounbt I will exactly run to see it. I believe Kriutchkov was there?Kolya was just abut $14 from Amazon, a bargin compared to the Ashes at $69, and sounds like a good film.
Agree 100% on Black Robe - a masterpiece. I am still feeling the chill.
Do not ask me why I wrote wrongly " Il Postino " who of course I did meant ! sorry.
No it was , nothing major, but, nicely made, with a little touch of romantised socialism.
Kolya is a very tender and gentle film....I envy you ...to have the pleasure ahead of you....
You will see,you won´t be cheated.
