HDTV could mean a multitude of things. Ranging from needing a set top box
that downconverts to standard TV resolution. A progressive scan TV than can handle some HDTV and DTV modes natively and downconverts others. Or a fully compatibe HDTV that just needs a converter. At $850 I would say that it is most likely the first. As the others typically cost $2000 and $8000 respectively.

As for the comb filter is has little to do with it
