For $250 or under I reccomend the Sony DVP-NS500V. You can get these for $220 shipped on the net. I assume your Rotel processor doesn't have DD or DTS since you said it was a pro logic processor. Does this processor have 5.1 analog inputs? If so the Sony is the perfect match for you. The Sony has built in DTS and DD decodeing as well as having playback capabilities for multichannel SACD, and at this price the SACD is just a bonus.
It's got everything you're looking for (digital coax, optical, component, s-video, etc.), offers progressive scan (WEGA to the best of my knowledge doesn't support it, but leaves room for upgrades), and dvd-audio. Also does MP3/CDRs & has a nice menu interface. The biggest complaint I've heard re: the JVC's is the reliability, but I guess when you're buying any mainstream component you run that risk. If you check on pricegrabber you can have it for under $250 shipped. Also note, the SA60BK is the same player, but in black not gold.-jeremy r.
...only the lower quality optical, which made it a no-go for me. I went with a Philips DVD Q50 for $400. Now, Q50 has its own annoyances, like no time display. Seems there isn't a perfect player out there....John K.
if you don't like simple answers this will keep you busy and you will come to the same conclusion but be very well edumacated on DVD players
