Audionet MAP has gotten rave reviews in German and Swedish press and it's been compared favourably against Lexicon and Proceed units.Has anybody here heard it? How does it perform in real life and how are the ergonomics?
curious,
Halcy
Follow Ups:
Only the remote is OEM'd. The actual unit is an AudioNet original design. Swedish press (Hemmabio) hailed the MAP as the best unit on the market, even compared to Lexicon, Meridian etc. Pretty impressive statement. But also, remember that the prices will be different... Most likely the Audionet is cheaper than Lexicon's processors in Europe, but the difference might not be that great here in the states.I still like Lexicon though....
A little research shows that it uses the same remote as the EAD Theatermasters. Perhaps they OEMed the Signature, like SimAudio did? If so, it definitely should compare favorably to Lexicon and Proceed because the EAD Signature sure does.
AudioNET doesn't usually OEM stuff from others, so I'd be surprised if this was the case.I saw the photo of the innards of Theatermaster 8000 Pro and it doesn't look like AudioNet MAP. I don't think they even use the same DSP for decoding.
The remote does look the same and I think both of them have derived it from an OEM.
cheers,
Halcy
Yes, you are probably right - the back panel is very different as well (I didn't spend much time on this "investigation"). From what I gather, though, it does sound (ha, ha) like a great unit.
