I am thinking of using a denon 4802 as a ht processor with my krell kav 250 preamp along with my krell kav 1500 5 channel amp, I would use the krell 5 channel for front, center and sides, and the denon's amp for the rears, I am seekings oppinions on this or alternatives, thanks

Yes this will work just fine. I don't think you'll get a "gross mismatch" between the front and rear speakers as long as you setup the speakers correctly & adjust the volume levels for each speaker as required for the listening position. If you are listening to DVD-A or SACD then you may be aware of the amplifier differences, but if you are interested in home theater use only for the surround speakers, I don't think you will hear a difference as the effects sent to the rear speakers aren't full range and usually aren't sustained sounds.
Xenon,DVD-A and SACD should be routing to the side speakers, which are powered by the Krell amplifiers.
The rear speakers should only come into play during movies.
Regards,
You are correct. I have a 5.1 setup with sides (that are really located at the rear because - well, that's where I have wall space), & in visualizing the setup I called the sides "rear" - well you get the point? My mis-typing due to my personal HT layout.
Rick,So long as the Denon can reconfigure its channels I know of no reason this wouldn't work -- of course you'll get a gross mismatch between the sides and rears, but I doubt you're too worried about that ;-)
Does the Krell preamp have a theater input? If not, you'll need to use a preset position/value on the receiver input to the analog preamp.
