i'm setting up my home theatre with the sharp xvz9000u dlp
projector . i will be about 11 feet from the 16 x 9 screen
what is the recommended diagnal screen size i should use.

1:1.5 screen width relative to the distance is as close as you should get.With DLP that has high pixel count, you might be able to get a little closer than that.
Project it to a white wall and see how close you are comfortable with.
