I'd like to use a pair of NHT 2.5i for front and Super Zeros for surrounds.
Is it alright to set the systems like this after I set the speaker output of Yamaha receiver to 4 ohm? I am a little worried since the 2.5i covers from 3.6 to 6 ohm and Super zeros are almost fixed at 8 ohm. I'll appreciate a kind advise for this matter.
Kim,Try both & see what sounds better, I doubt the NHT impedance drops too low to damage the amp. I use NHT 2.5s (not i's) with a Yammie 990. Be wary of the combination it can sound bright & harsh especially with lower end equipment. I've not listened to the new crop of yamaha stuff, so let your ears be the guide.

I found the NHT 2.5i's and a current Yamaha Dolby Digital receiver to be an awful combo. Bright, harsh, and, not enough power to drive the bass of the 2.5i's.
