HiI'am looking for a processor from Rotel which are able to use the new 7.1 surround instead of 5.1. Do you now if any of rotels products are able to do so.

Lars,I hate to be picky, but there is no offical 7.1 standard. What is sold as 7.1 is really 6.1 with two monophonic speakers.
That being said, Rotel now offers their model 1066, which is fully "buzz format compliant", offering Dolby Pro-Logic 2, DD (with EX processing), DTS-ES (matrix and discrete), plus an external 6.1 input.
I don't know the asking price of the product though.
Regards,
Hello KotchesHave know seen the RSP-1066 that you was talking about, and I have asked the dealer for one (price $1,700.)
Hello againHave investigated in to the 1066 from rotel tha you mentioned, and as I understand it, this is a combined amplifer processor etc.
I'am already in possetion of a RB1070 and a RMB1066 3-ch amp. which I have put in to an elderly Sony STR-50ES surroundamp using pre out.
I have the Infinity Kappa 90 in front the Infinity Kappa Video in center and a pair of old Infinity Modulus mrk II for rear.
Now I want to change the Sony AND the Modulus for something else (read better) and buy a pair more for the 6.1/7.1 mode

Hello KotchesThank you very much for your reply.
I've probally misunderstanded the article I read.
I'am new to the surround systems. Has up to now only been interessted in regular 2-channel stereo. But after I bought the Rotel RDV-1080 earlyer this year I have tried to read up on this subject. And to my knowledge the new was 6.1 and 7.1, and I would hate myself if I bought a 5.1 processor that would be out of line tommorow.
Therefor I am seeking for a procseeor that would be able to be opdated regulary.
Cause I'am living in Greenland at this moment there are not very many possibilities to talk to radio stores on a regular basis

In terms of regular updating, there are a few companies that have delivered the upgrades:Meridian, Lexicon, TAG, Theta
have consistently demonstrated ability to upgrade their products in the field.
They are a bit pricier than the Rotel.
Regards,
Hi again KotchesThanks for your recommendation. Seeems like I have to wait for a while with that purchase
Lars
The number of physical outputs avaialable to drive additional channels is important. You can update SW all you want, but adding physical HW (ie channels) is not a trivial or cheap trick. Count those outputs before you buy.
