Do you know who found the "bug"? Checked Denon's site today and the "No Chroma Bug" statement in the DVD-9000 section was gone. Hope we see a review of this player soon and the DVD-3800. Comparing the details, I don't know if their $2300 price difference is justified. Just wish there was a choice of getting the gold/champagne finish, instead of the black. I checked Denon's Japanese site and saw the players the US doesn't get. Really sucks, big time!
Follow Ups:
Joe,Denon discovered it when they got late samples of the Legato MPEG decoder from ESS.
I suspect that ESS kept on telling Denon "We've fixed it, we've fixed it, we've fixed it", then delivered a product that did not fix it.
You're a little behind the curve, the 9000 and 3800 have had the "Chroma bug free" statement removed for a month or so.
Regards,
I know the $3500 list price isn't set in stone, but even yahoo shopping's best price is $3394 before shipping. That's not exactly a big savings. ShoppersAdvantage, on the other hand, is currently at $2600 plus $30 for shipping (the player is over 40 lbs!). Unfortunately, the don't currently have the DVD-3800 listed as an available DVD player.
I would venture to say the MAP (Minimum Advertisable Price) is around where Yahoo shoppings best price is.The 3800 should just be hitting retailers stock rooms, as it shipped late last week according to my source at Denon.

.
