Hello,
I am seeing two cycling, wavy noise lines on my TV when I connect it like this via s-video cables:
Proscan DVD player --> Marantz SR5000 AV receiver --> Mitsubishi 31" TVHowever, the noise lines disappear if I connect the DVD player directly to my TV. I have tested all of my s-video cables by individually connecting them from DVD to TV and each one seems to work.
I am planning to connect a new digital cable box with s-video as well, and my receiver has multiple s-video inputs so I thought I could use them instead of getting an s-video switchbox.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help.

Well, after digging around for answers to my s-video interference with my Marantz SR5000, Proscan DVD, and digital cable box, it appears the problme was with an IC chip in the Marantz receiver and neither ground-loop interference nor macrovision protection was the problem.Marantz is going to replace the chip for me at no cost.
Thanks for your input everyone.
sounds like you have a ground loop between your receiver and TV!you need to track down the source and isolate it or properly ground to a common source..... do a search for video and ground-loop on this forum.

It sounds like you might be running into macrovision copy protection based on the exhibited behaviour. You can look for a Sima Color Corrector, and place it between the DVD and the receiver to see if that rids you of the problem. If it does, you've got macrovision issues.
If not, double check the cable between the receiver and the TV, it could have issues with ground manifesting itself as video noise.
