My wife took off on a week sabbatical with one of her girlfriends. Last instruction was to record several TV shows. Well --- I can;t eject the old tape from the JVC VCR. The tape plays, forwards and backwards but doesn't come out. Manual is no help. Anybody have any solutions rather than send it in to a repair shop. Just trying to avoid an unhappy spouse.
Follow Ups:
With three years on it, you're probably outta warrantee season. I'd pop the top off, then plug it back on and hit eject. Chances are one of the springs has sprung, the grease on the tape case transport has locked up, or youve got a broken dooflicky. Getting the top off the unit will hopefully allow you to get the tape out. BTW: cant record over the tape thats in there???? (just a thought....!)Be careful!

What model and how old?
Model HR-S5400U. Has an S video output and many features dubbing features I don't use. About 3 years old. I think it's fairly good quality.
Easy solution... run out and get a cheap new VCR. I think our current one is pretty darn nice and cost $89. I saw VCRs for a fraction of that price out there as well...
