Hi,
Can anyone please tell me what I need to do to split the cable tv signal output from my Cable tv decoder box. The decoder box has only got a rf in and rf out which arent being used. It also has audio left , audio right and video out which are all being used and are currently connecting to the inputs on my TV.( Standard 3 wire AV lead) What I want to do is split the output signal somehow and run this approx 17 metres (50 ft) to a Tv in another room that has extra a/v inputs that arent being used. I only have the one Decoder Box.
Do I use 75 ohm coax?
Thanks very much for your help.Alan

You should use regular RCA AV extension cable and "Y" splitter. But at this lenght, you can expect problems.
What if i ran a cable from RF out on the decoder to the other TV. Also I dont mind a mono signal at the second tv/
I presume by "Y" splitter you mean a tv coax TV splitter with one input and 2 outputs. Would it help to use an amplified splitter?
It is not RF splitter that you would use for cable TV. It is "regular" RCA with one male at one end and two females at other. Go to some store and ask for "Y splitters for Audio/Video" they will show you what it is. Here you would use Audio/Video cables, not 75 Ohm cables. You can use RF output from the decoder/converter/or whatever the box is, to run regular 75 Ohm cable to other TV, and if that TV is stereo it will decode all stereo signals just as if you would run A/V cables.
With 17 meters you can expect some problems, and if picture is very poor, consider some RF amp/signal-buster. This amp will go right after (short cable) converter/decoder, and then from amp (long cable) to other TV. These cables would be 75 Ohm just like all those cables arround house connecting RF signals.
