My mtn. bike buddy is threatening to buy a Bose system.
He has 2000.00 to spend on a rig.
It would be a receiver and speakers.I know nothing about video.Except how
to turn on my tv.And sometimes when I'm drunk
I can't hardly do that. So,you loonies. If you had two Gs to piss away
on a set up what would you reccomend?
Thanks.

I'm a realtor and this Bose thing comes up all the time. (My office is only 2 short blocks from Best Buy and I wanna run in there all the time and trash Bose speakers.)Denon or B&K receiver should do the trick. For speakers, check out the PSB Image series, great bang for buck, floorstanders and monitors, some of them are quite small & decor friendly plus they'll play MUSIC too. Another decor friendly speaker, though harder to find, is the Gallo Nucleus, about the size of a soft ball. They'll need a sub. Don't remember the price but they're not exepensive. And they're really cute.
this thread rears its ugly head every few weeks. He could buy a new Denon receiver and Axoim speaks.
If he's okay with used gear, look for a used B&K receiver.
IMO, Bose is overpriced junk. The Bose buyer is paying for the marketing of their cheaply built products, and a person would be better off buying almost anything else. I would recommend some kind of relatively inexpensive HT receiver and a set of Paradigm speakers and subwoofer. A $500-600 receiver with a set of Titans in the front, Atoms in back, and whatever center channel and sub would go with that, would absolutely crush the Bose system in terms of performance. I guided a friend to this type of system a year or two ago, and they were very satisfied with the performance. Cost was less than $1500, I think.Todd
