cambridge soundworks home theater speakers - anyone use them? Any good
Follow Ups:
I had Emsembles. The only thing that ultimately persuaded me to get rid of them were Magnepans! In the realm of little speakers on stands plus a sub, the Ensembles were tremedous sound for the price and not bad regardless of the price. The only thing is that you should take advantage of the size and move them around on stands until they sound right. If you hang them on a wall, or stuff them in a bookshelf, they don't don't sound that special.BTW, I'm not convinced that the Newton series are a big enough improvement to justify the higher price. They also just don't seem to be in the true "Henry K." spirit.
I own the Cambridge Model 6 speakers and they are very good sounding speaker. They are a natural sounding acoustic suspension design in an imitation wood cabinets. Now on sale for about $150 - $160 - they are an excellent value. The Newton M-80 is a new three way bass reflex design in real wood cabinets. It is built like a battle tank with a very nice clean non colored natural sound. Also now on sale for $300 - offering another another excellent value in my opinion.
10 year warrenty and 45 day in home trail available through hifi.com for both sets of speakers. Most people will be very satisfied with Cambridge Soundwork Speakers.
Don't pay retail, at any rate.
I think they're fairly good...better than most "circuit city"
goods, but not quite "audiophile" catagory. Of course, if they are small, you can only do so much with that compromise.
