Hi guys...I am very very new to the audio reciever/ surround sound theater world. I am looking for a reciever and a set a speakers to set up in my room (about 12.5 ft. X 10 ft) It's not that big of a room. The catch is that I am on a budget. I am looking at a JBL SCS-135SI speaker package($300) and a Pionner VSX-D811S($340). What are your opinions about this setup? If I can do better within this budget range.. that would be great. I would really appreciate any info you guys can give me on this.

Two speaker sets worth considering, both in or near your price range if purchased through eBay, etc.-Klipsch Quintets w/ sub
-JBL NSP-1 Northridge Series
http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=JBLNSP1&SVBName=293I used to own a pair of Quintets (used as rear surrounds) and now use a JBL NW-24 as a rear surround. The JBLs in particular are very crisp and clear, with excellent clarity throughout the midrange and sparkling but not grating highs. The NSP-1 will kick booty all over their baby brothers, I guarantee you that.
Haven't heard the subs in either group but they're bound to be adequate for your needs. You might consider the well-reviewed and affordable Sony SA-WM40 sub with a 12" woofer.

Online store: http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=SONSAWM40&SVBName=293As for home theater receivers, I have a two-year-old Yamaha that I'm very happy with. The model that currently goes for about $350 is the RX-V530, which I'm sure is a fine unit for the $$$.
Good luck and happy hunting!
These are going for $169 including shipping on eBay. The JBL set-up plus this sub will absolutely blow away the chintzy JBL group you're considering that sports 3" paper cone midbass drivers and a paltry 8" sub . . .

Thanks a bunch for your suggestions. I am looking into it see which setup I want.Anyone know a good place to get audio cables for cheap? Does it matter what kind of cables I get? I've heard people say Monster cables are just a waste of money.
Thanks again.
