like on their website or something... No offense to you, but they have given different answers re the RP62/82 over the last few months. Don't know of anybody having opened the RP62, or having done a test that proves S/F chips, but since it's not much different than the RP56 in a cheaper package... I guess this is wishful thinking, Panny is not likely to provide this info openly since S/F is perceived as superior, and the RP82 (maybe) and RP91 don't have it...Why do I care? I want S/F, have an RP82 on order. Have a chance to get another RP56 quite cheap now ($120), it won't last, would prefer it if RP82 isn't S/F FOR SURE.

Here is the response from Panasonic. I called three different times and received the same answers three separate times, and I received this response from Panasonic. Stick to your single player RP56, when Sears already carries the CP-67 5 disc at a whopping 199.00, and bring your ad in and they will match the $169.88 price I found on the net.Dear Panasonic Customer,
Thank you for your inquiry. The models which are currently on sale which use the Sage Faroudja progressive chip (FLI2200)are listed below. Other models which are not yet out such as the DVDXP30 and XP50 also use the same IC.

Subject: Sage/Faroujda
Can you please provide me with a list of the Progressive Scan DVD players
that will carry the Sage/Faroujda chip. I am going to buy one but am
confused about which ones do and do not carry the Sage chip.
Every single "picture" of an RP82 rear that I've seen shows it does not have a coaxial digital audio output, but Panny says it DOES have one on their website. Preferable to me, as I personally don't like Toslink.
especially since my DAC does not have toslink inputs! Personally I'm torn between the Panasonic DVD-RP56/RP62/RP82 and Denon DVD-1600. Not sure if I want to get DVD-A support, or not. The sound is probably improved in the Denon. But I only watch 1-2 DVDs/week. So how important should a DVD player be to me? $500? $250? $150? I have a decent TV, Toshiba 36AF61. Gorgeous pciture. But it's isn't high-def.Also looks of the RP82, in two-tone silver/black - is just play ugly, 1980's style (or something). RP62 is not much better. The Deono looks decent, but is at least twice as much as the other players I've listed. Decisions, decisions...
