Still not sure which is my biggest tendency - to be a sucker for spin doctoring or to be a cynic. I guess the former because yesterday I repleced the standard (high quality) 12 metre component video line from the processor/player area to the projector with Audioquest YIQ1 cabling and yes, the picture was noticably sharper. Not dramatic mind you, but a definite improvement to the picture on the 112 inch wide screen. However I would be surprised if much improvement could be detected if the signal was going to a normal direct view TV. But then again.....
Follow Ups:
The differences in sharpness, detail, and brightness are noticeable, too, on my much smaller direct-view monitors. So much so that after a while I feel I'm being blasted with over-detail, even after adjusting monitor controls to compensate. Cabling includes Nordost Optix for composite and S-video on VCR and DVD, and MIT RF cable, all with silver plating, and all mighty impressive at first blush. But I'm going back to Belden copper to get some rest. I'll keep the former for when I reach your gear level and compare again.
From reading your comments, I wonder if you are setting your TV using the Video Essentials or other disc? I find that it helps quite a bit. Also if you have a more expensive TV it is worth having a tech come and set it up.
