Hi,I am very excited to announce I just received my McCormack MAP-1 multi-channel preamp yesterday. Since I live so close to the factory, I think I've got one of the first units (Serial No. 5)!
I hope in the next few days to post a real review of this great product but so far I am thrilled with the sonics. My quest to marry great two channel sonics with the option to expand to surround sound seems to be at an end. The ARM (Ambience Retrieval Mode) is very effective at pulling ambient info out of two channel sources (especially TV stereo) without the synthetic overhang that other two channel to multi-channel processors seem to exhibit.
On straight two channel material there is an immediate sonic weight and depth that I had not heard in my system before. This was surprising because I didn't feel my system was lacking before.
I need to listen to some reference disks and then report more formally. The bottom line is this is a very nice product!
