I am looking for receiver that will allow me to use both DVD-A and SACD. So far, only found SONY 555ES receiver to have 2 sets of multichannel input. Other similarly priced products has only 1 set.
Question is: do I need 2 sets? Can I connect DVD-A via digital input of the receiver. Is additional DVD-A decoder on the receiver required for such connection? Also, if I intend to use seperate amp for the front 2 channels by using the pre-out of the receiver, can I improve the power of the center channel by bridging the center speaker output with one of the front channel speaker output?
Lastly, any recommention for receiver with good Pro-logic II, budget $500.

Do a search on the Hi Rez forum, seems to me some of the guys over there have done 5.1 switching for two sources by combining multiple Radio Shack audio switchers, outputting to a single 5.1 input on their receivers/preamps.
I don't believe you can get DVD-A through the digital out at this point. Only through the analog outs.As for receiver recommendations, musically I prefer the Marantz models. Look at the SR5200.
