Really depends on how, um, politically correct you need to be.
IMHO there is nothing wrong with going with whatever you got
and if it really bothers you in the long run, then changing
the speakers. This stuff's supposed to be fun, after all.
Thanks for saying this is *supposed to be fun*. People I know get into home theater because it seems fun to them.Anyway, based on the way we perceive sounds from behind or to the side (there was a good article in Absolute Sound several issues ago) you may be happy for quite a while going with your existing speakers. After a minor amount of fiddling around, I did fine using my modified Spica TC50 speakers as rears with B&W 802 Series 3 mains.
Maybe I am just not as critical with theater, but I can't get that worked up about the sound beyond a certain point -- don't get me started on stereo however ;-).
