Need to reconfigure my system which would have me going to somewhere around a 15' component video cables for both DVD and HD receiver. Does anyone have any experience with long runs and if so, what type of signal degradation could I expect? Also, any recommendations for good quality cables that I won't have to take a second mortgage out on? Thanks for your help!

Don't think you will have a problem. Mine run farther than that.
I've heard that longer runs of S-Video can be a problem, but I fail to see why this should be much different from component video. The big difference would seem to be the less robust design of the S-Video connector. In any event, 15' of component video is nothing to worry about.
You won't have any degredation if your runs 15 feet. You could probably go to around 50 feet easily before any degredation. Check out better cables.com their silver serpent component cable are very good and they will make any length you want.
