you often have to rearreange the room. And the existing speakers may not cut it, both re capability and position. So it's a good idea to make a PLAN, decide what you'd like to have, and choose stuff that fits in with that direction. What works for a small area doesn't necessarily translate well to a larger viewing space the larger screens require. At least that's what I found, depends on what gear you already have. But yeah, I went for the sound gear first myself, but once I got the "nice" screen, the system seemed rather unbalanced on the audio side, not doing it justice. It is an intangible that I hadn't counted on.

That could happen too... but with the front speakers, not probable with subwoofer or surrounds...
from what I found. (As long as your surrounds are positioned properly, see Dolby site for correct positioning, and can work adequately from there. Many manufacturers promote totally improper surround positioning because of what they sell, no relation to how DD/dts are mixed to sound. Surround speaker positioning changes with seating changes, and a large screen dictates that.) I did upgrade my surrounds, but yes, that was not truly necessary. I had another use for the original surround speakers, so decided to get something better for the more "public" and oft-used system.[Just meant that upgrading the screen can have financially deleterious effects if it makes things seem ill-matched. I had absolutely no intention of having a semi-proper surround AV system when I got the large screen. Somehow, the bigger screen made me say "hey, this is not bad" (I'm not a TV watcher at all) and then my problems started. Beware! I am liking it now though, another unwashed unbeliever converted...you know how they are.]
My 32" TV looks so small with my upgraded sound system... I have to get a plasma... Please donīt tell me I will have to upgrade everything again... :(
I am not really subject to it, I am reasonably easy to please, not particularly critical as some inmates go. What happens is, I get to a point where I find things are balanced. In their capability and performance, they work well together. And then I'm happy, I can honestly say that. Then I have a thought, get an idea from somebody, see something I like... What really screws things up is when you *accidentally* (mistakenly, ignorance, lack of vision) insert a piece of gear into the works that is obviously superior to your other stuff, and is more demanding...
