I've never really been into home theater but at the behest of my girlfrind who proably wants to watch Pretty in Pink ect. I've hooked up the TV to the system . . .Anyway I've noticed while playing around that the TV dumps alot of buzz and high freq. hash into the line. Is this normal and are there any TV's that will not do this? Looking to get into a 34" or larger 16:9 tele.
Thanks,
Keith
PS This DVD movie stuff can be pretty exciting compared to 2 channel.
Follow Ups:
If you have a stereo VCR,feed the audio from it to the receiver, and use the tuner in the vcr to select the channels.Don't use the tv sound at all.
I think I felt the same way as you do, about a year ago, though I have had a half-assed SS system for ~5 years. With good DVD's it can become addictive.Anyway, I have a current Sony WS RPTV, and it puts out a huge amount of noise into the line. So much it should be illegal. That's what you get with switching power supplies when the manufacturer doesn't care...there are no regs for this. My Sony computer monitor puts out zero noise into the line, so they can fix it if they want. All I can suggest is a good conditioner on your audio gear, mine keeps the TV noise out of everything plugged into it. Or a good conditioner _just_ for the TV, some of the computer type filters are good enough, an APC one seems to help here, you can do better. Also try putting your TV on a separate AC circuit, even better if that circuit is on the other AC phase from your audio gear. I will try some various clamp-on ferrite chokes on my TV power cord and will let you know if that helps.

Tried up to 5 of them at once on the TV power cord. These are RF chokes I think, and not really the proper ones for what we want. The noise I can hear is in the audio range...doesn't mean the chokes don't help, but weren't killing the most annoying stuff. The simple thing didn't work here, so afraid it means you'll likely have to use proper filters, easiest to just do the TV.
When I get back I'll borrow one from my dealer and see if that helps.
Thanks,
Keith
so it might take a couple of days. I will also have to rearrange things so that the TV purposely bothers the audio gear...As for plugging the TV into a different AC circuit from the audio gear, that shouldn't be too difficult as there are usually multiple circuits in a room, or at least in a large room.
