The expensive Meridian 800 is supposed to suffer from this. However I've no idea what the fuss is about. From what I can gather it is a storm in a teacup. Try the Sony out. If you cannot spot anything wrong then relax and enjoy the picture & sound.

However, the chip brand that DON'T have the chroma bug are generally regarded as the superior brand of chip. The chroma bug is an easy way to tell if you have the better chips, without opening the unit. Good chips do not mean good implementation though, so it's kind of a geeky thing. Like knowing your car can do 200mph, but never going over 75.
