I haven't been able to image with Parasound, but have with Sunfire. However, in the later case it seems to be accessing the image from the tube preamp, though. Just speculating here, but it sounds almost like the tube is making the amp image, rather than the amp simply not distroying the preamps image. As one begrudgingly switches to SS when going from stereo preamps to 5.1 processors, the story shows up. The Sunfire will give you a crack of dawn you-are-there feel, but the image is much less real, despite the luster.
Your making my head hurt, please stop. To the question of amps, the Parasound would be my pick, or maybe holding out for a Bryston, Proceed or Classe'. The Sunfire will make a lot of noise but not much detail.
Curious--how would you interrelate the sonics of the amps you mentioned above?
