I finally got my very first HT system, bought it witout consulting the boss! What's a GREAT DVD to impress wife so that I can see the sun rise in the morning?
Follow Ups:
If you wife is like most women, she will want to see "Notting Hill," "Sleepless In Seattle," or "When Harry Met Sally"...Most of the women I've known (including my wife) would rather see a tear-jerker love story on a small screen TV than an effects-loaded action movie on DVD/Widescreen...
Dances With Wolves....Enought to melt any womans heart!!
With these kinds of answers no wonder most women aren't into HT! (I give Chocolat poster an A for effort.)Petey sweetie, congrats...BUT. Ummmm, how long you guys been married?
Let me give you a suggestion...*What's her favorite movie or DVD?* *Who's her favorite movie star?*
Trust me on this, the material doesn't have to be reference quality video with demonstration level sound. It has to be something she *likes*. (Women are usually not as much into the digits - we're into the STORY.)
Some of my favorite DVDs -- You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, Philadelphia (see a trend there??? yes, I'm a big TH fan), as well as Meet Joe Black -- are not necessarily the best in terms of audio or picture quality but they contain some of my favorite actors (Hanks, Ryan, and Hopkins).
A great movie (I'm also a Tom Hanks fan) with a great director and a tremendous soundtrack. The music really adds to this movie, and w/ Hanks you have (one of his) Oscar-winning performance. It's a sad movie, though. Take that into account.
Chocolat. Nice music, nice woman friendly story with enough humor and plot to keep it sorta interesting for the guys.
Any good p0rno ;)
How appealing...NOT.
Red Violin. Great story and beautiful music. It's in my all time top 10!
My wife is in love with Daniel Day Lewis in The Last of the Mohegans, which I must admit is a fine movie.
Good 5.1 sound? Then I'd go more with sound than picture. My first choice would be James Taylor's "Live at Beacon Street".
Depends on how old she is, but if in her twenties or thirties I'd go with Pretty in Pink, or the Breakfast Club. Neither has great special effects but are good stories and women love them. Well that is unless she’s gone over the edge and has rejected all things 80's:)However Pretty in Pink does have the added bonus that it is a "coming of age" type film where inept and emasculated men find they are nothing without her powerful self made, and unerring womanhood.
I'm sorry I went there,
Keith
Any movie with Brad Pitt... ;)
The Cambridge Audio DVD300 is a great player. It has outstanding video and audio qualities and it plays CD-R and RW discs as well. One potential drawback though, the tray has a tendency to stick. That is, when you push the "open/close" button, it will start to open but then immediately close. At least this has been the case with mine. Might just be a software problem.
