I'm trying to decide wich option (DLP or LCD) should be more adequate for using in home theater system.
I've seen very good quality picture from the Plus (piano and other models) in DLP and also very good were the Toshiba TLP-260 for LCD, so now I really need to know the "pros and cons" of each option.
Thanks for any help.

I second projectorcentral and avsforum.comIf I weren't moving, I would buy a FP in a heartbeat. I've seen several lately, and the PQ is outstanding...with big impact. I certainly would choose a FP over a 73" RP. RPs are great bang for buck, but they're gonna be dinosaurs soon. Unlike the little 47" RP that would fit in a bedroom or den, this beast is BIG.
1. Each genre has worked on its weaknesses so now the rainbow effect is much diminished in DLP and contrast and brightness is much better for LCD's.
2. Certain things have not changed. The only projectors that do a true black are CRT's. One of the reasons is that the screen door effect makes blacks grey and gererally diffuses contrast. ALL DIGITAL PROJECTORS have screen door effect. The gaps are largest in LCD, in the middle for DLP and smallest in D-ILA. Even so, choosing a LCD with better resolution makes the pixels smaller and the spaces between them correspondingly smaller.
3. Another critical issue is colour fidelity, in general reds are orange red (and blatantly so) in all but the newest and best DLP projectors. Some people claim it doesn't bother them. I do not belong to that group. The ProjectorCentral site is indeed a wealth of information and reviews. As others suggested, a visit there is well worth your while!
Whichever format you choose, the best of luck. I love my setup, I wish the same for you!
I am trying to decide between a front projector and a 73" Mitsubishi rear projector TV.. The decision is not easy. The amount of money is considerable, and I don't want to make a mistake. I saw a Yamaha DLP projector at Tweeter on Sunday and the image on a 6'-6" screen was great. BUT, the rainbow pattern was noticable when I moved my eyes quickly from side to side. I was told that the new projectors that will be released soon will correct this problem, but they will cost over $10,000!!!!!!! Currently, I don't know what to do.
Your dealer was not much help. Try http://www.avsforum.com. Check out the two forums for digital projectors.
Hello,I suggest checking out this site:
www.projectorcentral.com
As far as I can tell, thesite offers excellent information on just about everything related to projectors and getting the most out of them for your $$$. The reviews seems to be very well done and seem to be pretty much unbiased. There are also several articles on topics like LCD vs. DLP, 4:3 vs. 16:9 etc. etc.
Just my 2c.
.
A few I would throw in:LCD
Pro:
Higher resolution?
Cheaper?
Con:
No absolute black
Window screen effectDLP
Pro:
Color Saturation
Contrast
Black level
Film like (whatever that means)
Con:
Rainbow pattern visible when rapidly shifting eyes away from screen.
...and some people don't even see them! I do, but I have to move my head rapidly back and forth, something I would not do under nromal viewing conditions. The newer 3 chip DLPs are very, very good looking indees, though not cheap.
It is even visible when moving your eyes quickly to another part of the screen. I showed it to some product rep who had a whole bunch of DLP RP on display, and once he could see it, he can't help not noticing it in every instance that he noticed it, whether moving his eyeball, glancing past the screen or sometimes walking by. It was driving both me and him crazy.
