In Reply to: RCA Directv receiver DD audio problem posted by Dizzy on October 23, 2002 at 16:10:54:
don't have that problem.... i started with a DD Sat receiver when RCA first came out with them about 2 years ago and since have moved to Sony DD receiver.... not because problems with the DD signal but because Sony's are faster.... and the image is way better than my old RCA.
Follow Ups:
I had seen a report that lines of resolution on the Sony's are limited to 300. Not sure if it's true, but I have stayed away from Sony for that reason (also heard their are quite a few bugs in the software). The picture on this RCA is fantastic, the sound is my only problem. I'm very hesitant to swap this box out because I'm afraid I will just end up with a whole new set of problems. I was hoping for some sort of software fix.
Could not vouch for the Hughes, but Hughes is the originator of the technology and make several of the receivers that are re-labelled by others....IMOE, the Sony was much better than the OLD RCA i had.... RCA may have gotten their S%#T together since then. I am, so far, very happy with the Sony Sat-A55 i have. I use the Coax as well as S-Video output for Video and the image is as good as i have seen before compared to other good receivers.
