I think the best mainstream HDTV Rear Projection is the Pioneer PRO-620HD. The Mitsubishi Diamond Series and Top-of-the-line Hitachi are also pretty good. It has been very difficult to compare apples to apples, because everyone has different equipment running into the TV sets. Especially annoying is the big stores with rows of TVs running off a terrible signal through about 5 splitters. Does anyone have any of these TVs? Have you compared them to the others I mentioned. Is there a hands-down favorite, or is just a choice of compromises?

No doubt Pioneer Elite RPTV line has the best pictures as well as the look among all. Though I do own a Sony HDTV (because of the limited budget)my vote still goes for these Elites if $$$$ is not a problem. Not sure where you live but I did compare at least three or four diff model brands side by side in a couple of hi-end stores in Dallas area, only the Mits's Diammond line came close.
