Anyone had a chance to see the 42 inch Plasma Screen TV being marketed by Gateway computers? I believe Phillips is the producer of the unit. I am not near a Gateway store so am hoping some of you out there might have had a chance to look over this $3000 marvel. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Not a Philips. This same model has been available at Costco for several months for same price of $2999.00.This set looks nice on bright scenes but is not as good on blacks and shadow detail as the better plasmas.
I'd go for the 42" Panasonic WD5-UY. Should be able to fins this on-line for well under 4K shipped.
For review of Gateway plasma, go to hometheaterforum.com, there's a Gateway plasma thread there that has a link to a review.
Glass by LG Philips, electronics by Sampo. It's not the same as the Costco model. Not far from it, but not the same. Do a search at avsforum.com for "gateway" in the "plasma & lcd" section. (Too) Long discussion on this plasma.
LG is Lucky Goldstar, a Korean company. Philips is a Dutch company. Unless you mean some joint venture.
they're probably not Korean.
:-)
$3000?????You can see a 42" Philips at most any Best Buy. The previous models were nothing special, not nealry as good as the Panasonics and Pioneers. The new ones look better.
