Progressive scan is non-interlaced. That is the gun does not alternate odd and even lines. This helps in flicker. The higher res helps in clarity. BTW your computer screen displaying a hi-res photo image would be a good example.
Sorry, but I don't get the "picture." My understanding is that a DVD with 500 line resolution, playing on a DTV with potentially 1080 line resolution, puts up only alternate lines (1,3,5 etc). Line doubling copies lines to the space below.First, is that right?
Second, how does progressive scan work? What does it place in the even lines?
Thanks. This is important to understand before spending bucks on the DTV and a newer DVD.
