I am looking for a entry level DVD player to play both DVDs and CDs. I am wanting to spend a bare minimum of under $250. What do you recommend?? Thank you very much.
This is a little late, but other might be interested. I just got a panasonic dvd a120 from mercata. If you go today you should still get $50 off your first order. They change the powerbuys all the time, and I was able to get mine, including shipping, for $196. They also have toshiba's and sharps at good deals.
The Samsung DVD-709 aint so bad for about 2 bills. I got mine from Cambridge Soundworks. I can live with the occaisional skip (maybe once a movie.) Must note that I could not play a CDR on it, so thats a bummer. But otherwise nice entry level unit. OH, someothers have reported having trouble playing the Matrix on it, but I have not had this problem. Good Luck
I have the Pioneer 525 and am very pleased with it. If you purchase this at an authorized Pioneer dealer it sells for $299, but there is a $50 rebate from Pioneer bringing it into your price range. Audioreview.com gives this dvd player a decent review. Good luck !
i also have the 525 and i am very pleased with it. unfortunately i bought it right before they came out with the rebate, so i wasn't able to do that, but i got 5 free movies and a a ton of free rentals, so i'm not disappointed at all.btw, i think circuit city and crutchfield are the only places online that you can buy it from and still get the rebate. any regular "brick and mortar" place should be fine though.

You can also buy from a national outfit called Rex. I did, and sent off the rebate coupon. I like mine alot.
Sears is having a sale sat 12/11 on the Toshiba 2109 for , I think, around $180, go to audioreview.com under equipment reviews to see what others have said about it.
