Hello my friends:During the last few years I have been building a nice audio-system, I think I am almost done (please check it out below). And now for this Christmas I plann to buy a high quality TV. My budget for that is around 2k, and the sizes I like are 32" and 36", both of them good sizes for my dedicated medium-size room.
I have visited WIZZ and P.C. Richardson and the model I like most is the Sony KV36HS500 monitor: it is High-Definition, tube, 2 tuner picture-in-picture, 3d digital comb filter, Trusurround with SRS3daudioeffect, etc.; I have read also many good reviews about it. The price is around 2k, which is not cheap, but I am looking for something for long-term enjoyment without constant, expensive up-grades.
But my friends I am new in this field, so I am not so sure about the specs and details I should check in each model. So please tell me: which other brands/models should I suggest before buging? give your insights, guys, any suggestion/comment from you will be very wellcome... best regards, Antonio Machado.

For your price check out the sony 36xbr800 which is their highest model. Get one from www.shopsunshine.com with white glove delivery (they'll set it up in-home) for a total of about $2050.good luck
Antonio: I would throw my vote in with Toshiba. But, You need to do a bit more reading. Check out reviews in Stereophile Guide to HT,etc. The main thing with any TV is calibration. Will the store do it for you?? If not then look elsewhere.

and I love mine. I would say that Panasonic is far superior to CHEAPASS Sony in every possible way.Sony sells on their name only. Look where their products are actually built. Every piece of junk Sony gear I have ever owned is broke. Every Panasonic component is still going strong. I am on my thrird Panasonic. The others are in my living room and bedroom after many years of faithful service.

Be carefull, if you buy a Panny for DVD, don't buy the CT32HL42. I heard that this TV and all the new Panasonic models don't have ID-1 dectection or squeeze fonction for anamorphic DVD. I was considering one myself. I think the best way to be sure is to call the Panasonic 1-800 line.
Sony and Toshiba are far and away the better tv manufacturers with the edge going to Toshiba if price is a consideration. Like any other manufacturer, they both make dogs as well so do your homework and choose wisely.
I recently purchased the Panasonic 32HX42 (32") hdtv and absolutely love it. I believe their 36" version is well below $2000. The one thing to be sure you get are two component video inputs (for progressive scan dvd and hdtv).
Thanks for replying my post. Indeed, I have been checking Panasonic TVs and I like their colors and fine resolution; I am considering this option also, specially because the price is from far cheaper than Sony TVs.; nevertheless, many salesman have told me Sony is superior to any other brands. If I base my opinion just in what I see, to be sincere I don't find a difference between both manufacturers, and sometimes I even consider those opinions partial. But I am new in this field and I have to learn more, investigate more before purchasing my TV, which I expect to give fun during many years coming. The size you have (32") is also excellent, specially for medium-size rooms just like mine, so an interesting option would be Sony 32". Vaughn, thanks again for your help, best regards, Antonio Machado.
Antonio, I bought the Panasonic 36" HDTV a couple of months ago and so far it's been great. Even regular TV broadcasts are much clearer (no scan lines) than on a pan and scan TV. Have you checked out Toshiba? I'd put them right in there with the Panasonic.
