Sony sells on their name only. Look where their products are actually built. Every piece of junk Sony gear I have ever owned is broke. Every Panasonic component is still going strong. I am on my thrird Panasonic. The others are in my living room and bedroom after many years of faithful service.

  Be carefull, if you buy a Panny for DVD, don't buy the CT32HL42. I heard that this TV and all the new Panasonic models don't have ID-1 dectection or squeeze fonction for anamorphic DVD. I was considering one myself. I think the best way to be sure is to call the Panasonic 1-800 line.

    Sony and Toshiba are far and away the better tv manufacturers with the edge going to Toshiba if price is a consideration. Like any other manufacturer, they both make dogs as well so do your homework and choose wisely.
