Is there such a thing as a good cheap (100 or less) DVD player? I just want something to get by with until I upgrade my TV in a year or two. I am spending too much on upgrading my turntable and adding LP's to my collection to budget in a really good DVD player at this time. Thanks for any help!!
Follow Ups:
Panasonic CV32, lists around $150, currently available at BB and CC and other mass marketers for $119. Good basic player, will last longer than utter crap like Apex, should tide you over until you're ready for prgressive - then you can stash it with the bedroom TV.Spend the $20 extra bucks so your player won't freeze at DVD layer changes. If you go less than 100 you'll be replacing within a year.
Occasionally you'll find Sony, Panasonic and Toshiba in this price range. Check your Sunday sales ads. I'm not sure I'd buy a used player unless I knew the person that owned it and was familiar with the player.
There is no such animal as a GOOD and cheap new DVD player, particularly re audio, so, as an interim, I suggest you hunt up a good used player. If you are not worried about interlacing you should be able to pick up a unit someone has upgraded from. You are wise not to outlay too much at the moment, particularly, if like most of us here, you like good audio.
The newer units coming on the market are trying to do all things for all people by handling DVD, CD, SACD, DVD-A, .... so some of the older (and possibly much better) units will be available at greatly reduced prices so shop around.
