I have been using an integrated tube amp to run my 2 channel system and would like to add a 5.1 channel Pioneer home theater system that I have inherited. I would like to use the same front speakers I am currently using and would like to avoid running the 2 channel through the Pioneer. Is a speaker switching box the best solution or would that degrade my 2 channel sound?
Follow Ups:
If the Pioneer has line-level outputs for the L/R channels, I would run those into an extra input on your integrated. Calibrate the output levels, and mark the position of your volume control (on the tube unit). That way, when you want to use the surround system, all you do is select that input on the integrated & set the volume control to exactly where you marked it...I've done the above in the past, and it works very well. I personally wouldn't use a switching box.
