As it turns out, I don't believe it is the disc. I borrowed my friend's copy of the same DVD and the same thing happened. I watched the new Austin Powers DVD today and again the lips were not in sync with the audio. Pausing the movie and restarting it puts it back in sync but after about 10 minutes it goes out of wack again.Strangely, older DVD movies don't seem to have this problem. This makes me wonder if there is something in the newer DVD settings and I have to adjust my DVD player accordingly - I don't know what though. Or is there some setting in the Receiver that has to be adjusted - It's a Pioneer Receiver.
It's a brand new Progressive Scan Hitachi DVD player - it came as a free promo with my Hitachi 43" HDTV.
I'm ready to return it and exchange it for another DVD player to see if there is a difference.

I posted this question quite some time ago, and got no replies here. I would start with DVD player settings, and while you try to find jsut which one they are, give your dealer a call. They should know.I saw the same thing on a sony dvps-9000. IF you find out, please post!
good luck.
