I am currently using a Sony DVP-NS700p and need to purchase another dvd player. I know the 700p is no longer available. Can anyone reccomend the best dvd players for $300 or less or show me where I can find some recommended models. Progressive scan is a must, but would not NEED dvd-a or SACD. Thanks.

Give a look at the Panasonic RP-82. No chroma bug, Farijouda chip, plays all the stuff you need it to, about $200. Groovy.
Is the Panasonic a current model, where will I be able to find one.
The RP82 is going to be hard to beat at its price. If you want or need a 5 disc changer the Panasonic CP72 is pretty much the same unit with OUT coax digital output (toslink only). I have the CP72 and it is an excellent unit. It can be had at Fry's or Circuit City. My local Fry's had 25-50 (multiple pallets) of each in stock this last weekend.
< < Is the Panasonic a current model, where will I be able to find one.Canada, I'm not kidding based on reports. The RP82 is good at what it does, so good you will have a hard time getting one now in the U.S.
Circuit City, Good Guys, Tweeter. It's a current model. I have the next model down which is the RP62, and it's been great.
