I'd like to get a very slim TV like the plasmas but can't pay the $5K that decent plasmas cost. Every now and then I see an ad for these Sharp LCD thin TVs for around $1K. How do these rate in terms of image quality? Are they HDTV-ready? Are they a waste of money? Is it just a skinny thing, and the TVs are otherwise mediocre?
Follow Ups:
Just purchased a 22" widescreen Sharp LCD for the bedroom. After a 12 hour break in period...I am astonished at how nice the picture is.Because it is located in a bedroom, it does not compete with bright sunshine. That said...the picture is excellent. It may be a bit contrasty...but working through the color set up has tamed that a bit.
I just saw the 30" Sharp HDTV next to a Panasonic Plasma display (non HDTV) and for my money...the Sharp LCD was a nicer picture.
Thanks for the comments. Are you deterred by the fact that the Sharp doesn't have HDTV capacity (or am I mistaken about this)?
