I bought a Panasonic TH-50PHD5UY. I live at about 7000 sf elevation. The Screen Hisses badly. The people at Visual Apex where I bought the screen are willing to take it back. GOOD PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH. Can anyone suggest a plasma that is better at high elevation??I have looked at the Pioneer 5030 HD and the Mitsubishi PD-5010. Does anyone have any comments on these.

Hi the only TV to date that does not hiss is the Zenith. I understand your problem I also live at 7000 feet and have been waiting for years to see if that problem can be fixed. They did test the plasma tv by taking it up to leadville which is 10,000 feet. Leadville is in Colorado.
nobody wants to talk about is exactly what you are experiencing.A business associate of mine lives in UTah at about 6000 feet and asked me the question- would plasma work?
I asked every major mfg and they all scratched their heads and swore they would get back to me- no one ever did.
I cornered some engineers from Panasonic at last years CES, the American ones translated to Japanese for them, still no response.
My suspicion based on face to face reaction is they just don't want to talk about it.
At that altitude you might want to look at a Panasonic or Samsung rear projector DLP set. They will work regardless of altitude.
NECs do not buzz, we specify and install them all the time in Aspen
