I have a friend looking for a 32" or 36" HDTV but he absolutely abhors the silver color that all HDTVs seem to come in these days.Does anyone make a 32" or 36" HDTV in black instead of silver? The closest that I can find is the Sony sets which have a black mask around the picture tube but the rest of the unit is silver.

The problem with those dull silver cabinets is that you can barely notice them when you're watching the TV (black was nearly invisible - what a waste of money). I would like Sony or JVC to come up with a clear cabinet, so they could put all sorts of flashing neon lights, mirrors and strobes inside the cabinet, and around the screen. That way, I could be constantly reminded that I am watching an expensive TV, instead of getting absorbed into the program I am viewing. But, seriously, my brother will soon be buying his first RPTV. The *only* brand still offering an all-black cabinet besides Pioneer was Mitsubishi, and the Pioneer was out of his price-range. Guess which brand RRTV he is buying?
I just saw a really fantastic HDTV Aconda by Loewe, at a local dealer, with a very nice piano black finish.Check out http://www.loewe.de/
Phillips makes a 34" wide screen, It black - I'm with you, Don't quite know what JACK ASS designer decided to go silver. Silver really goes well with rosewood and mahogany. Ba hum bug
for many things.Reasoning include, since we are in a down economy, we don't want to be so glitzy, so we go with silver, to silver goes with anything, to black is so blah....
About time we finally get some colors other than black in the US market. I'm really enjoying my silver Panasonic DVD-RP82 DVD player with the mirror finish. I'd like to see more choices in gold and champaigne, like we see in the Japanese markets. As for the original question. I know Samsung makes black 27inch and 30inch (16:9) HDTV monitors. Maybe they have larger models available?
Chrome and silver goes well with the High tech and plastic look. Black And gold for the furniture wood tones.
